Overview
The spiritual journey to the Abode of Lord Shiva, Kailash Mansarovar, can now be done at the lowest cost. Mount Kailash, also known as Kailash Parvat, is considered to be the ultimate destination for spiritual seekers from around the world. Similarly, Lake Manasarovar is the final destination for those seeking purity and pilgrimage.
Located in the Tibetan mountain region, Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are both renowned for their natural beauty and tranquility. The lake, which is 88-km in circumference, is called the “Lake of Consciousness” due to its name, “Manas” meaning mind and “Sarovar” meaning holy lake. It is particularly fascinating during the full moon day. This sacred place is revered by different religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Tibetan, the pre-Buddhist animistic religion and the Jain religion. Taking a bath in the lake is believed to purify all sins committed in life.
At an elevation of 22,022 ft, Mount Kailash is a symbol of pristine beauty and peacefulness, while Lake Manasarovar, located at 14,954 ft, is breathtaking and gives one the feeling of being one with Shiva. The best time to visit Mount Kailash is from May to September.

We begin our journey by receiving blessings from the sacred peak of Mt. Kailash, and embark on the grueling 22km trek from Dirapuk to Zuthulpukh (altitude 4790m) via Gauri Kund.
As we traverse this lengthy path, we will encounter the highest point of the trek at Dolma La Pass (altitude 5630m). Along the way, we will come across sites that bear the footprints of Milarepa, a Buddhist Saint Poet, and Shiva Tsal, where pilgrims leave behind items such as a piece of cloth, a drop of blood, or a lock of hair as a symbol of letting go of this life. After ascending the steep climb towards Dolma-La Pass, we will then descend to the breathtaking round-shaped blue Kund at Gauri Kund (altitude 5608m) facing the south side of Mt. Kailash. It is crucial to cross this area quickly before the strong winds take over.
Finally, we will make our way to the lodge or tent at Zuthulphuk Gompa (altitude 4790m) for an overnight stay.
It is important to note that during this trek, we will be provided with a packed vegetarian lunch and hot water will be available at Dirapuk for filling our flasks. However, it is the individual's responsibility to carry their flask with them. Additionally, it is not safe to touch the water of Gauri Kund alone and those who do not wish to trek to Zuthulphuk can return to Darchen at an additional cost, and our guide will assist upon request.
